Minister for Elementary & Secondary Education No country of world can achieve the cherished goal of socio economic development without having an efficient, highly skilled and qualified public. Availability of quality educational institutions spread over whole of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is a way to this purpose. The Government is firmly committed to fulfill its constitutional mandate and always strive to fulfill the aspirations of the nation. This Government is determined to convert the ever increasing youth population in to a potential harbinger of socio economic change. Hence, this due focus on expanding the educational facilities is in sync with Government’s future road map for the province. It has also accorded high priority to establish schools for children to enable them to successfully meet the future challenges. It is hoped that creation of an education web portal will ensure the Province march on the road of self sustained development and play its due role in making the Province a genuinely prosperous, enlightened and economically liable region in Pakistan. Muhammad Atif Minister for Elementary & Secondary Education Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Secretary E&S Education Department We must ask why do 3.9 million children and 127,000 teachers enter into one of our schools everyday? What is the outcome we are looking for and are there ways that we can make every single day as effective as possible for close to 4 million students, teachers and staff? At the Education Department we realize that in order to improve the outcome of our education system, we must not purely focus on top down ideas. We must also encourage and let ideas and projects flow right from the students and parents all around the KPK to and from the national and international schools’ community. Do remember that apart from 3.9 million children that we have within our school system, there are another 3.1 million that are out of school. Unless we bring in breakthrough innovations, we will not be able to reach all the people that should be asking for education as a basic human right that our government must provide. Education must be seen as an engine for economic development. An educated person refuses to be poor. If we can help our next generation to feel confident that the years they invest with us lead to a better and more productive life then we would have done our job. In the words of Alvin Tofler, “The illiterate of the 21st century will not be those who cannot read and write, but those who cannot learn, unlearn, and re-learn”. Our world has changed but our public education system has not. Our society must be prepared to move and lead the ever-changing world. We will be implementing many new initiatives, trying out projects and at times not succeeding but we know that we must persevere and to keep moving forward despite the small setbacks we may have. Be ready to work. To put in the hours. To do what it takes. To become proud of helping build a better generation. To build something that is more than just about yourself. For if we are to make what is possible happen we must all do our part--from students, parents, teachers, principals, administrators, politicians, telecoms’ operators, NGOs, construction workers and anyone else that is directly or indirectly involved in making the education of KPK amongst the best in the world. We are living in one of the greatest times in history where technology helps us improve the way we spread ideas and make things happen faster. The political will is at its peak and education is the top priority of the present government in KPK. We acknowledge the need to change so lets make this the day, week and year the one that brings the change we deserve. Yes we realize that 40 % of our schools do not have electricity yet, but we must start somewhere. You will be seeing this website as one of our means to reach everyone. Please feel free to contribute where you can as we open up more of our projects with the community. With the change in government in KPK, we at the Education department now see ourselves as the facilitators of change. I seek your ideas and help to create systems and use technology that enables this change to happen in a better way. Please don't sit back and wait for the world to change for you. Be the one that brings your ideas to reality and then spreads it to the rest of the community. Thank you for your help in making change in KPK’s education happen.
